When first hearing in class that a requirement was to have a Twitter account and to send at least three tweets a day, I was not looking forward to the assignment. I wasn’t really familiar with Twitter and the whole idea behind it. I now see that Twitter can be a valuable resource, for pure entertainment, or for motivation!
One of the first people I decided to start following on Twitter was Rev Run. Rev Run in formally known for being apart of RUN DMC. He recently came back into the public eye with the television show on MTV Run’s House. The show basically is about his family and what they do on a day to day basis. At the end of each show Rev Run is showed taking a bubble bath and typing on the cell phone. He narrates what he is typing and it is always motivational. His words of wisdom correspond with that is going on in either his life or someone in his family’s life. He always closes out with “God is love, Rev Run.
Until now I never knew who he was typing these motivational sayings to. I actually never really even thought about it. But of course he is posting them on Twitter!
Rev Run posts the minimum of five times a day. He is constantly posting things; they maybe short and sweet or long and thoughtful. Some of them make you think for yourself, and sometimes he spells his message out for you. Some days Rev Run has themes, his post for that day will all be about gratitude and thanking some one, some days his post are very religious and mention god or prayer, and sometimes they are just motivational in the sense of thinking positive. I have come to the conclusion that Rev Run is positive thinker because as we all know life isn’t perfect. There are obstacles we must over come to reach success and there are struggles. Rev never posts anything negative. He never says what a bad day he is having, or how he just wants to quit. Because we all know life isn’t perfect, we know that everyone has days like these where we just wish we didn’t even get out a bed. With this, Rev never has post relating to his gloomy day, or bad situation, just the positive aspects. They say to every situation there is a good side, Rev Run must only see the good.
Rev Run follows no one on Twitter yet has 350,498 followers. Apparently his posts are meaningful to a lot of people. I decided to follow Rev Run because I like the show Run’s House and what he has to say. I figured he would be motivational through Twitter but not as active as he is. Every few hours he is updating his post with more great things to say. I don’t know how someone can say so positive. It seems as though he always sees light at the end of the tunnel and believes everything happens for a reason; that everything will be alright if you stay positive.
Rev Run’s bio says the things he is in life; husband, daddy, king of rock, rock of fame inductee, star of hit show Run’s House. After following him, I believe his bio is in order of his priorities in life. First is he is a family man, will do anything for this wife and children. Next he is a music man; he loves music, and uses it to express himself, and lastly his show on MTV.
Rev Run is someone I suggest everyone follow! He can only motivate you, make you smile on a bad, or just remind you to be thankful what you have. A tweet I remember that has impacted me is, “if everyone threw their problems in a pile, I bet that you would pick yours out over others, be thankful for what you have.” Sometimes I can get really frustrated with school work. I am a procrastinator so when it all piles up I get overwhelmed and crack! When I think about this quote it makes me be thankful that I have to opportunity to go to college. I guess I would take my problems out of the pile over others, things could always be worse. THINK POSITIVE!
